Job Description

Under the supervision of the CEO, the Branch Executive Director stewards the Y's cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization whithin the community. The Branch Executive Director oversees the operation of the State College Branch of the YMCA of Centre County and participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaboration with the community stakeholders.   • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent.
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience leading multiple full-time staff and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Proven fundraising and volunteer development experience with specific experience leading campaign volunteers.
  • Experience managing a buget of $2 mil or more.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains a diverse advisory committee that actively supports the Y's goals, and strategic plans. Clarifies and reinforces the division of roles and responsibilities between corporate boards, advisory committees, parent groups, staff, and general volunteers.
  • Builds bridges within the community so that all segments have access to the Y.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y's impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders). Develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and government entities.
  • Manages the Branch budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budget meets or exceeds goals.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support Branch and Association goals and strategies. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the Branch.
  • Directs Branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the Branch.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, development, and supervision of staff.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y's mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Recruits volunteers for and leads the Branch in the Annual Giving Campaign in addition to the staff campaign.
  • In conjunction with Program Directors, ensure that staff and volunteers obtain and maintain required clearances, certifications, and trainings as stipulated by law and YMCA of Centre County policies. Comply with all HR policies.
  • Serve as a member of the Y corporate management team and support the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Required Certifications

  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training within the first 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Mandated Reporter training within the first 90 days of employemnt and every 5 years thereafter.
  • ACT 139 Training for First Responders - Naloxe training within the first 90 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter.
