The Summit Area YMCA (The SAY) is seeking a dynamic HR Generalist to join the Human Resources Department and Organization's Leadership Team and play a key role in supporting our employees and organizational objectives. 

Under the direction of the Senior Director of HR, The Human Resource Generalist manages the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. They work as an essential HR Team member to support the organization's Human Resources functions.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the human resources field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Demonstrated maturity and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience processing company payroll for 500+ employees is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP is a plus. 
Essential Functions
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the executive leadership team.
  • Provides support and guidance to program directors and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Leadership.

Required Certifications

Salary & Benefits:

Salary range for this role is $58,000 - $65,000, based on experience. This Full Time exempt level position may include some nights and weekend hours as needed.
