Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Marketing & Special Projects builds the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact through development and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies, as well as direct leadership of the TOGETHERHOOD® and Promise Indiana Wabash County programs.


Degree from an accredited college or university or related experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Personal values consistent with the YMCA Mission.

Prior program and volunteer experience a plus.

Essential Functions

Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

Collaborates with the branch leadership to ensure the safe and responsible operation of the Y including rotating responsibilities for overall facility supervision & program coverage and actively participates in branch philanthropy efforts, special events, meetings and training sessions.

Directs and supervises marketing and program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives via the Wabash County YMCA website, Facebook page and other related methods of communication.

Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Work with all other departments to create and support programs and activities that enhance membership engagement and retention.

Direct lead for TOGETHERHOOD® and Promise Indiana Wabash County, co-lead on special events.

Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Participate in, promote and support the YMCA annual campaign fundraising efforts.

Conducts or attends required meetings and maintains required certifications.

Secures and schedules facilities needed for program purposes.

Assists in other departments as needed.

Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
