Job Description

The Overnight Camp Waterfront Director oversees all safety protocols, operations, and staffing of the Overnight Camp Waterfront. This position will create the staffing schedule that coordinates with the programs running for boating, aqua toys and swimming activities at the beach. Additionally, this person will supervise and run the swim evaluations of each camper at the start of each session.

Qualifications

Previous camp Lifeguard experience, current American Red Cross or NPRQ Lifeguarding certificate, MI Boater’s Safety certification or willingness to obtain, desire and ability to work with children and adults in an outdoor setting, ability to relate to one’s peer group, ability to creatively schedule programs, facilities, and staff, ability to accept guidance and supervision, ability and experience in supervising campers and staff, good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Must be 21+ years old.

Essential Functions

  • Assure that waterfront standards are met at all times in accordance with camp’s risk management policy and various regulating agencies
  • Coordinate schedule and provide lifeguards to coincide with regulations for all waterfront usage
  • Understand, follow, and train all staff in the routines and procedures for the waterfront
  • Plan and lead bi-weekly lifeguard in-services
  • Ensure that all waterfront equipment is properly used and cared for
  • Evaluate and grade, within the set of qualifications, each camper and staff member’s swimming ability
  • Attend weekly Mission Team meetings to discuss, plan, and evaluate camp sessions
  • Evaluate current session and make recommendations for the following summer

Required Certifications

current American Red Cross or NPRQ Lifeguarding certificate, MI Boater’s Safety certification or willing to obtain.

$374.00 - $375.00
