Job Description

The Billing Coordinator will ensure the smooth operations of the insurance billing process, build and maintain relationships and communication and report any issues to the Business Manager. The Billing Coordinator is responsible for managing the billing, reimbursement and collection process in a timely and compliant manner for the Counseling & Social Services line of YMCA. The position is responsible for providing general administrative duties for the branch’s operations, such as welcoming and checking in clients, outpatient billing, invoicing, filing, scheduling, phone intakes and answering and routing calls.


· Must be available to work the following schedule: Monday –Thursday 1pm-9pm and Friday 9am – 5pm

· Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on customer service and ensuring a positive experience for agency clients.

· Required minimum of three (3) years related medical billing experience.

· Demonstrates excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work well independently or in a team environment.

· Previous experience with insurance claims.

· Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize completing projects and work, and display an attention to detail.

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Previous experience of electronic health records preferred

Essential Functions

· Manage billing processes including, but not limited to, reporting, follow up, dispute resolutions and claim denials.

· Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent and comprehensive clinical and financial information is used during the billing and collections process.

· Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with clients.

· Identify and resolve patient billing issues

· Attend and actively participate in required YMCA trainings, meetings, and fundraising events.

· Office management including but not limited to the following: answering calls, greeting and registering clients.
