Camp Description

The Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA owns and operates YMCA Camp Kresge, a beautiful 1,100 acre facility located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Situated on the banks of beautiful Beaver Lake, YMCA Camp Kresge offers a wide variety of summer camps including Day Camp, Overnight Camp, and Teen Leadership Programs.

Job Description

  1. Facilitate International Camper and Staff Program according to YMCA and ACA standard.

  2. Supervise International campers and staff in both Day and Overnight Camp Programs

  3. Ensure that all International program nights are fun, challenging, and safe for all campers

  4. Serve as a cabin counselor during Resident Camp

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 20 years of age
  2. Summer Resident Camp experience

  3. Supervisory experience, preferably in a camp setting

  4. Ability to communicate well and provide quality leadership

Essential Functions

Program Responsibilities:

  1. Organize International program nights, camper and staff meeting as required

  2. Set up and coordinate trips to NYC and Mall/Outlets for International Campers

  3. Create a calendar with International Flight information for International Camper and Staff

  4. Facilitate all airport runs with driver

  5. Manage all International Campers’ and Staff documentation in camp safe (passports, etc.)

  6. Facilitate internet time for International Staff and Phone calls to home for International Campers

  7. Teach camp programs as necessary

  8. Evaluate camp program and provide input to Overngiht Camp Director

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a liaison on the Sr. Staff team to ensure that all needs of International Campers and Staff are met

  2. Assist counselors in supervising all International Campers in camp

  3. Be a resource to International Staff and Campers to ensure a smooth immersion at camp

  4. Report all policy concerns and violations to the Overnight Camp Director

  5. Act as a second counselor in a camper cabin

  6. Provide daily report on the International Program to the Overnight Camp Director

  7. Attend all senior staff meetings

  8. Participate in all senior staff/scheduled responsibilities

  9. Abide by mandatory reporting policy, as described in the staff manual

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with staff training

  2. Interpret safety and health rules, as well as other camp policies to campers and staff

  3. Maintain camper and staff discipline in the International Program as necessary, in an appropriate manner, within WB YMCA guidelines to achieve camp’s objectives

  4. Offer enthusiasm for camp life and programs

  5. Interpret and ensure the implementation of YMCA Character Development in all aspects of the International Program for campers and staff

  6. Other duties as assigned by the Overnight Camp Director or Director of Camping Services

Required Certifications

Clean Driving Record preferred
