Founded in 1928, Camp Sloane YMCA is a 274 acre camp located in the foothills of the Berkshires in northwestern Connecticut. Sleep away camp of 250 campers and 60 day campers with room to grow in both. Serves kids grades k-12. Sloane is coed.

Job Description

Work at one of the historic, independent,summer-onlyYMCA camps in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of NW Connecticut! The camp is located two hours from NYC, 2.5 hours from Boston and a million miles from ordinary.Full-Time year-round opportunity. Responsibilities include the planning and running of an eight-week summer resident and day camp program. In addition, the position is responsible for coordinating and running a very short shoulder season of rental groups on either side of summer camp. Imagine spending all year thinking about, and working on, summer camp. How great would that be?

Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (degree in Education, Recreation, Environmental Studies, Science, or a related field preferred but not required). Must have at least five years’ experience working in a youth camp setting, along with prior administrative camp experience. This job requires strong skills and previous experience in program design, adventure-based programming and staff supervision.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Camp Director/Associate Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration of the summer camp programs and other camp programs (rental groups, outdoor education and teambuilding groups and family camp).

·Responsible for the financial management of the Day and Resident camp programs including budget development and control

·Responsible for the financial management of the all other camp programs including budget development and control.

·Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal camp staff.

·Responsible for progressive development and evaluation of all programs.

·Ensure that all evaluation forms, incident reports, and other written documents are completed in a timely manner.

·Follow established procedures for group contracts, payments, and deposits.

·Together with the Executive Director develop themes for, and administrate the Family Camp program.

·Assist with processing summer seasonal staff. Ensure all hiring forms and health forms are complete and secured prior to the employees first day on the job.

·Monitor the budget according to expenditures and institute appropriate expense controls

·Compile and maintain statistical reports on a weekly or monthly basis as requested by Executive Director

·Coordinate transportation needs for camp programs.

·Assist with the promotion and interpretation of Camp Sloane YMCA’s mission and goals.

$50,000.00 - $65,000.00

Other Compensation

Onsite housing - 2BR, 2Ba house

Health Insurance premiums for employee and family are 100% paid by the YMCA. YMCA funds all but $1000 of the deductible for families and all but $500 for individuals.
