Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Donor Engagement will be responsible for the solicitation of Annual Campaign gifts and directing volunteers and staff as they solicit Annual Campaign gifts for their Branch. The primary responsibility of the Director of Donor Engagement is developing relationships with current and prospective donors, including YMCA members, program participants, and members of the community, that lead to philanthropic commitments to the Annual Campaign. Secondary to this is the ongoing coaching and coordination of the Branch staff and volunteer teams to be active in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Annual Campaign donors. Working closely with high-level branch volunteers and YMCA staff, the Director must ensure that the monetary goal is met or exceeded each year. Together with the Executive Director the Director of Donor Engagement will be an active member of the community, who continually seeks opportunities to share the Y’s cause-driven message. The Director is a Branch leader and is the key Annual Campaign fundraiser, who is tasked with advancing a culture of philanthropy that creates robust financial support for the mission of the YMCA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 to 6 years of professional experience in development or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and individual gift solicitation and cultivation.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to present before large groups, interact with high-level donors, and to represent the Y in a professional and appealing manner to all prospective donors, volunteers, staff, and in the community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a fast-paced team environment is critical.
  • The successful candidate must have a personal vehicle and the ability to travel locally on a consistent basis.

Essential Functions

  • The Director will be responsible for meeting the branch financial goal of the Annual Campaign, as well as strive to exceed the overall campaign goal for Association growth.
  • The Director, like all YMCA of Greater Rochester philanthropy staff, will be measured through a unique donor engagement tracking tool, which takes into account cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities on a weekly basis.
  • The Director will take a lead role in personally soliciting an increasing number of branch leadership donors — Chair’s Roundtable and Triangle Society. Achieve 100% Branch Board participation with a goal of $1,000 average gift.
  • The Director will work closely with the Association Philanthropy Department to execute the prescriptive tactics for solicitation of gifts below $1,000.
  • The Director will actively work on an individual basis with the Branch Board, staff, and volunteers to assist in reaching their established campaign goals. The Director will also help the Executive Director solicit identified top prospects. They will also help the Executive Director, Branch Board, and Branch staff identify, recruit, and solicit volunteers as part of the Branch Board.
  • The Director will take an active role, together with the Association Philanthropy Department in creating a robust prospect pipeline for themselves, as well as Branch staff and volunteers
  • The Director will be a leader, coach, and mentor for branch staff and volunteers related to all aspects of fundraising and will demonstrate best practices in the field.
  • The Director will work closely with the Association Philanthropy Department to ensure Branch efforts are in coordination with Association priorities.
  • The Director will work collaboratively with the other Annual Campaign staff and the Association Philanthropy staff.
  • Will fulfill Association donor reporting requirements, and coordinate with branch or Association staff for timely donor recognition.
  • Attend all required meetings and training.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Salary

$50,000.00 - $55,000.00
