Job Description

The Senior Director of Aquatics plays an integral leadership role within Greater Valley YMCA; a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Senior Director of Aquatics oversees the staff recruitment and retention practices, staff training and service delivery, scheduling, programming, business development, culture and safety of all aquatics programs and initiatives across branches. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years experience in aquatics leadership experience; will make an exception for leadership within health & wellness for a highly skilled candidate. 
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises branch pools with the highest delivery of professionalism.
  • Performs strongly and collaboratively with human resources in the recruitment, training and retention of qualified staff across all positions in aquatics. Maintains a highly communicative, consistent staff schedule. Performs effective staff management practices including onboarding, training, and retention practices.
  • Operates with Y core values in mind, and leads with a positive and professional manner to promote and sustain a welcoming, kind environment that feeds a helpful staff culture and staff retention.
  • Fulfills any/all vacancies while awaiting proper replacement of the position.
  • Communicates highly with staff, members, and leadership teams regarding changes within the department, including sudden pool closures, changes to schedule, etc.
  • Instills high quality service delivery of all aquatics staff, hosting monthly in-services and quarterly service delivery trainings.
  • Communicates strongly with members and program participants, returning all phone calls and inquiries within 48-hours.
  • Understands overall branch revenue and program goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department goals, membership goals and member engagement.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Creates and fosters uniformity of all group swim lessons including brand, curriculum, pricing, time, etc.
  • Streamlines all private lesson sales, including electronic request system, waiting lists, brand, etc. 
  • Upholds Test, Mark, Protect and Safety Around Water programming across the association.
  • Supports the summer camp and child care swim experience through staff scheduling, staff training, and proper safety measures.
  • Support all efforts of the Aquatics 4KEYC; serve as point leader for any/all marketing efforts.
  • Collaborates with competitive aquatics to ensure strong communication and brand from group to team experiences. 
  • Shared time at each branch is required.
  • Supports the branch in fulfilling fundraising goals.
  • Performs all duties as assigned.
