Job Description

The Northpark YMCA impacts lives every day.  We are a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  We are currently looking to expand our leadership team by adding a Membership Program Director who will be responsible for leading the member services department of the Northpark YMCA.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for hiring, training and supervising staff and will take on the responsibility to initiate membership services and engagement, welcome center procedures, membership campaigns, membership development, and membership retention, branch marketing efforts, and coordinate schedules for Membership and Playhouse staff.  The position is for a self-directed, innovative and creative person.  The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality programs, combine with the ability to manage the administrative components of the job.  Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that members have a high quality experience at the Y.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred.  One year experience as a coordinator or supervisor of a membership programs.  YMCA Team Leader certification preferred within three years of hire. 

Experience & Background:  High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.  The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring of budgets, developing and marketing programs and bringing enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising.  A proven track record in developing authentic relationships with others and the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.  This leader will need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.  Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.  Grow membership in accordance with operating plans.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Leads the branch marketing efforts and distribution of program information may organize and schedule program registrations.  May review and process program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Leads membership staff to proactively engage members in the Y through member engagement initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations and coordinates for the Y to be present at community events, such as health fairs.
  • Manages use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Responsible for YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • May assist with Program Committee meetings.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
