Job Description

The Program Director is responsible for developing and administering school age and family programs.  This includes, but is not limited to the YMCA Before & After School Program, special events, and other community-based programs to build relationships and continue program development within the school district the Program Director serves.

Qualifications
  • Degree in child development, early childhood, recreation, elementary education or related field, or its equivalent in related experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years previous professional experience, working with school age children specifically, in YMCA or similar organization. 
  • Basic program development skills with special emphasis on school age youth and family activities. 
  • Budget management experience. 
  • Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • At least 21 years of age.
Essential Functions
  • Develops, administers and controls the designated budgets, including meeting income targets and expense control, in consultation with the Regional Director.
  • Selects, trains and supervises department staff. Evaluates staff performance on an annual basis.
  • Shares responsibilities for Before & After School program growth and development. 
  • Evaluates programs and recommend changes based on compatibility with the Center and Association goals.
  • Involved with other community groups in identifying and responding to community needs and issues.
