Job Description

ANA Synchro, the nationally ranked competitive artistic swimming team of the Andover/North Andover YMCA seeks a new full-time Assistant Head Coach.  With over 60 athletes and growing, ANA Synchro is looking for a new full-time coach to continue to drive the success of our team.  ANA Synchro is open to athletes ages 6 to 19 and offers programs for athletes with disabilities, beginners, all the way up to athletes on the US Olympic team.  Through the artistry and athletics of artistic swimming and team competition, ANA Synchro helps young athletes build lifelong friendships and skills while developing the confidence to dream big and pursue their goals.  The team embraces the Y commitment to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility, and offers financial assistance to welcome anyone interested in joining the team.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • 2+ years of experience coaching artistic swimming.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Coaches Safety Training Certifications.
  • Must be certified CCP Level 1 or higher coaching certificate through USA Artistic Swimming.
  • Knowledge of current USAAS regulations.
  • A passion for the sport of artistic swimming and for working with young athletes.
Essential Functions
  • Must be willing and able to inspire our athletes to achieve their full potential. 
  • Must be willing to coach several levels, including our introductory artistic swimming classes, Novice, Intermediate, and Age Group.  The position requires coaching and planning for athlete development and progression at each level.
  • Must be available and willing to have flexible work hours, including coaching practices on weekday evenings and on the weekends. 
  • Must also be able to travel with the team for all competitions.  The position requires consistent and dependable punctuality – to arrive before the athletes at every practice and competition, and to ensure athletes are safely with parents or guardians after.
  • Ability to create routines appropriate for specific levels of swimmers, either independently or with an experienced choreographer.
