The YMCA of Northeast Louisiana is looking for a cause driven leader to be its first ever Regional Childcare Development Director. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with a sales and marketing background who likes to travel, meet new people, and who is project and task driven. Over the past year the YMCA of Northeast Louisiana has intentionally worked toward exceptional program innovation through after school, and out of school STEM programming, fundraising and leadership development. With that said, we need an individual who is interested in focusing on growth, excellence, outcomes and quality.

For now, we are a non-facility, program-based YMCA with a $1,100,000 annual operating budget that runs aquatics, childcare, youth in government, youth sports; as well as community-wide health and wellness programs through our Mobile Fitness Unit. These

Programs are efficiently administered by 7 full-time, and over 100 part-time and seasonal staff throughout our 6 parishes (Bastrop, Lincoln, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, and Union) that serves over 3,000 members/participants at 22 off-site community partner agency sites.

General Function:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Regional Childcare Development Director will lead the association strategy, execution and expansion of childcare programs in our 6 parish service area. This will include overseeing all existing, and childcare program expansion efforts for our entire service district. He/She will lead the association efforts in all out of school youth development program expansion, including participation in community- wide coalitions and other childcare and youth development collaborations and partnerships. They will be responsible for meeting or exceeding on program number and quality deliverables for all childcare programs throughout the service area. They will create new opportunities for engaging groups and individuals in youth development programs that are self supporting. They will also service and monitor all YMCA childcare program grants in collaboration with Y-USA, and the United Way.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • This position requires a college degree in a related field, minimum recognition as a YMCA Team Leader, Multi-Team Leader certification preferred; 3-5 years of professional, sales and/or supervisory experience and an understanding of the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.

  • The position requires a proven track record in applying best practices related to relationship management and community engagement.

  • A broad background in YMCA operations and program management is essential.

  • The incumbent must be a person with good judgment, excellent human relations skills, broad vision, and effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • The person must have demonstrated success in staff supervision, teamwork, coaching and leading others, an understanding of community development and empowerment, strategic thinking, influencing skills, developing and implementing innovative concepts and responding to critical health issues.

    Responsibilities:

  • Direct reports currently include one full-time (1 year grant funded) Program Manager, 15 after school and out of school program site directors, and 40 part-time and seasonal staff.

  • Job requires travel within a 50-75 mile radius 15-20% of the year to evaluate, oversee and expand existing and new markets within our service area.

  • Leads the development and implementation of school age youth development initiatives that lead to programs and services delivered in community settings--places of business, churches, and schools--as well as YMCA facilities.

  • Represents the YMCA in the community and youth development space as well as in collaborations and coalitions related to improving achievement gaps, and removing education disparities.

  • Provides leadership at community education and youth development of strategic partners as needed and promotes the YMCA's Youth Development focus area.

  • Works closely with the CEO, to engage all After school, and Summer Day Camp staff in the delivery of community school age youth and out of school education programs.

  • Delivers required outcomes for third party payer programs.

  • In collaboration with the CEO, seeks grant funding and other external resources to grow and expand program reach.

  • Stays abreast with publications and industry trends in school-age education and incorporates them into the work of the association.

  • Strengthens community partnerships to make YMCAs accessible and affordable to all.

  • Develops and grows relationships with community organizations and other entities to position the YMCA as a leader and partner in supporting healthy lifestyles.

    The successful achievement of this position's goals and objectives will result in deeper, long term partnerships and collaborations within the communities across our service area. It will also enhance the brand positioning of the YMCA of Northeast Louisiana as a cause driven organization that strengthens the foundation of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

    Salary: $29,000 - $45,000+ (with the ability to increase once established growth and expansion outcomes have been obtained)

    The YMCA of Northeast Louisiana offers a comprehensive Benefits Plan: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Retirement 8% (5% paid by the YMCA upon meeting eligibility requirements), and Paid Time Off (PTO).

Salary: $29,000 - $45,000
