Job Description and Required Certifications: The Cross Island YMCA is seeking qualified individuals who will be responsible for the planning and implementation of quality camp programming. Under the supervision of the Camp Director, the Camp Coordinator supervises camp staff and various program elements with the goal of successfully executing the programs objectives. Responsibilities: Supervise part time and non-exempt employees and volunteers. Monitor performance and provide support, while holding staff accountable for performance expectations. Ensure that the facility is kept clean and safe, based on the Y standards and Risk Management requirements, so that children are in a safe and comfortable environment. Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety procedures during camp programs. Report all incidents in accordance with the Y policies and procedures. Ensure that all staff follow the guidelines regarding summer trips and travel. Adhere to all Y Camp, Youth, Teen, HR and Risk Management standards, as well as Department of Health (DOH) and Out of School Time (OST) standards, if applicable. Work with camp staff to develop and implement engaging and educational program elements, including but not limited to STEM, Move to Improve and summer reading. Participate in planning and implementation of all camp activities, including but not limited to summer learning initiatives, field trips and in-camp events. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the camp program. Regularly communicate to guardians through clear and positive written and verbal messages. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Coordinate use of branch facilities for program activities and events. Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, including helping to compile program statistics. Participate in the development and facilitation of camp training. Attend 30 hours of pre-camp staff training. Qualifications: At least 2 years of college/university education in a program area related to working with youth and teenagers. Two years of experience working with youth, preferably in a camp setting; previous supervisory experience is preferred.
Salary Information: $543.75+ P/W
