Camp Description: YMCA Camp Seymour occupies 160 acres and a half mile of Puget Sound shoreline on the Key Peninsula, 30 minutes from Tacoma. We build self esteem and encourage collaboration through activities such as kayaking, canoeing, climbing on our 37 foot climbing wall, archery, swimming in our heated pool, arts and crafts, soccer, basketball, trip and paddle programs, and so much more. Additionally, Seymour boasts spectacular environmental learning opportunities, with a garden, marine touch tanks, almost 80 acres of evergreen forests and a reptile room. Our recently renovated cabins have heat and indoor plumbing. Since 1905, Camp Seymour has provided and continues to provide opportunities for staff and campers to learn and grow together in a beautiful setting where the water, trees and mountains come together.

Job Description and Required Certifications: YMCA Camp Seymour is seeking an Activity Director to support Assistant Camp Director with scheduling, planning, implementation, delivery, design and preparation for summer programs. Work together with the leadership staff team to evaluate and train summer program staff and camp staff to run activities. Assist with ACA accreditation process to ensure that relevant standards are met. Assist with Check-in and checkout of summer camp. Assume host responsibilities as needed. Support the program staff (i.e. Pool Director, Waterfront Director, Climbing Wall Director and A&C Director). Assure preparations are made for ACA and health department visits. Work closely with staff to meet policies, and standards in respective areas. Lead trainings, observe skills, document skills and review curriculum for each program area. Manage program schedules, area breakouts and camptivities for all of camp. Manage the program team through daily/weekly activities (Dippy, German Stairs, Whale Swim). Qualifications: Age 21+; two summers previous camp staff experience or equivalent. Integrity, patience, adaptability, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and a commitment to serve youth. Current 1st aid & CPR for duration of the season strongly preferred. Lifeguard certification preferred. Specialized and practical knowledge of/ experience in: cabin and camp leadership, aquatics, teambuilding, and supervision; staff management, development, and motivation. Human relation skills: Ability to train, motivate, support, share insights & ideas with, and supervise staff; communicate openly with supervisor; organize, facilitate, and evaluate camp activities; support and connect with campers; perform duties as specified in job description and by supervisor; behave as an appropriate positive role model in all camp activities.
Salary Information: $250-300/week
