Camp Al-Gon-Quian is the Ann Arbor YMCA’s overnight camp for campers ages 6 through 16. Offering traditional camp programs of one to two weeks throughout the summer and some seasonal programs, Camp Al-Gon-Quian has become a home away from home for many of our campers throughout our 85-year history. The camp is located on Burt Lake in Northern Michigan, just east of Petoskey and about a four-hour drive north of Ann Arbor. Our 150-acre campus is a combination of forest, playing fields, original and updated buildings, breathtaking shoreline and even a natural spring!

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Ann Arbor YMCA is seeking a Kitchen Director to run the foodservice program at Camp Al-Gon-Quian in Summer 2014! Camp Al-Gon-Quian is a residential children’s camp located on Burt Lake in Northern Michigan. The kitchen director will: 1. Orchestrate daily operations of the camp’s food service, serving approximately 260 meals three times a day. This includes: a. Establishing healthy menu for camp program b. Preparing and serving food as menu indicates c. Placing all food orders and coordinate with vendors 2. Maintain excellent levels of cleanliness and food safety a. Clean, organize and maintain all food-prep and storage areas b. Ensure kitchen meets all health department requirements 3. Work as a member of the foodservice and camp team a. Coordinate schedule and job tasks with other kitchen staff b. Supervise and direct the work of the kitchen assistants c. Work with director to meet budget expectations Certifications and Qualifications: • Experience in institutional or foodservice settings • Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food and kitchen procedures • Current ServSafe certification. • Current First Aid and CPR certifications • Leadership ability, positive attitude and teamwork-oriented mindset • Must be at least 21 years old by 6/22/2014 EOE

Salary Information: Base Stipend: $415/week base including room and board, or $10-$15 hourly if housing is not needed.
