Camp Location: Middleville, MI

Camp Description: Located on Barlow Lake, Camp Manitou-Lin offers kids a variety of experiences! To support the amenities listed, we have nine out buildings and 10 resident cabins that can house 220 people. Our riding center houses 50 horses year-round and we also have two archery ranges, a chapel, zip line, high ropes course, rock wall, along with three docks and a variety of boats.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Assistant Day Camp Director will be responsible for Day Camp activities. They will provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and inclusion. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Identify and meet camper/staff needs. •Be a patient, enthusiastic role model for our campers and staff. •Supervise all camp staff by giving them direction, resources and leadership. •Serve as a resource for staff. •Further develop staff recognition program. •Identify, minimize and eliminate, where possible, any risks that could cause accidents. 1.Carry out camp programs. •Schedule trail groups for all activity periods in Excel spreadsheet. •Oversee all skills areas ensuring safety, quality instruction and fun. •Ensure that program equipment is maintained and in good condition. •Maintain program equipment inventories and highlight equipment needs. •Plan and implement evening activities. •Ensure activities/meals begin on time. 1.Fulfill staff administrative roles. •Parent communication: face-to-face, e-mail, and phone. •Ensure programs follow established guidelines and ACA standards. •Assume the role of the Day Camp Director in his/her absence. •Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive, Senior, or Day Camp Director. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.At least 21 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent. 2.Documented experience working with children and a desire to work outdoors. 3.Organizational skills for scheduling activities; knowledge of Microsoft Excel program. 4.Ability to accept guidance and supervision. 5.Ability to relate to one’s peer group. 6.Ability to accept supervision and guidance. 7.Ability to assist in teaching an activity. 8.Ability to plan programs and carry them out. 9.Ability to teach leadership skills. 10.Good character and ability to adapt to camp setting; enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Salary Information: $225/week; Room and Board available but not required
