Camp Description: The New York YMCA Camp serves a diverse group of children composed mostly of New York City children in a globally diverse community built upon the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our goal is for each child to enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have joyful experiences every day. Come join our camp family for one of the most challenging, fun and rewarding summers of your life. The New York YMCA Camp is located on 1,100 forested acres 86 miles northeast of New York City where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania share a border.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center. The New York YMCA Camp, located in upstate New York, is seeking for qualified individuals who will assist with the daily feeding, cleaning and caring of horses and farm animals. Their main responsibility will be to care for the animals and run an exciting and educational equestrian program for ranch campers. Responsibilities: Ensure the health, safety and well being of participants in the program by providing close supervision of all equestrian activities. Assist with the day-to-day operation of equestrian programs. Be a consistent role model for staff and campers. Maintain all equestrian equipment. Care for the well being of the horses. Ensure the barn is organized and clean. Assist in maintaining all trails. Assist with riding lessons and trail rides. Assist with evening programs, chapels and campfires. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Four years of experience in riding and horse care, western style preferred. Experience working with children, preferably in a camping or residential environment. Be knowledgeable in all aspects of job, including ACA and health department standards.
Salary Information: $250.00 P/W
