Camp Description: Located in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California, for over 50 years, Camp Oakes has taken generations of children, groups, and families to new heights with new friends at their sides. Oakes is the ultimate camp experience, providing high quality programs including fishing, rock climbing, archery, canoeing and more! Every summer, YMCA Camp Oakes provides the experience of a lifetime for nearly 3,300 campers and, year-in-total, will serve about 11,000 people. Organizations such as scouts, churches, forestry, schools, police and those with special needs participate in a variety of activities at our year-round camp and conference center. Oakes is fully ACA accredited.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is looking for a Camp Manager who will provide on-site leadership to Camp Oakes. The Camp Manager has responsibility for day to day operations at Camp, supervision of staff and support of the annual campaign. They will also take on a leadership role in creating and developing a marketing plan for Camp Oakes and engage in positive community relations and collaboration efforts that advance the mission of the Y. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or participation growth for the camp. Executes strategies to ensure that camp participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA. 2. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position. 3. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. 4. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community. 5. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. 6. Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff. 7. Coordinates special events and activities. 8. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent preferred. 2. Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency. 3. Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising. 4. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations. 5. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. 6. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. 7. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required. Salary Information: Range: $37,000-$50,000 90% paid medical for employee only, dental, vision, LTD, life insurance. 8% employer paid Y retirement for eligible employees.
