Job Description and Required Certifications: GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Camp Jackson Director, run the day to day operations of YMCA Camp Jackson’s Teen Program. Specific areas of focus include but are not limited to Leadership Camps, Extreme Camps and Teen Base Camps, all high ropes activities and counselor development. KNOW-HOW: The Teen Program Director should be well versed in youth development and summer camp operations. Specific knowledge of leadership programs, climbing/high ropes and backpacking is essential. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with at least 2 years of college or equivalent, experience in summer camp programs, people management skills and the ability to organize, direct and motivate program staff. Creative thinking is required to create exciting new programs, activities and games. First Aid, CPR & AED certification and blood borne pathogen training are required. Advanced first aid training is preferred. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: 1) Oversee all teen camp programs for quality of programming, safety and staffing levels 2) Develop schedules for teen programs and schedule busses accordingly 3) Oversee teen packouts, including food, transportation, paperwork 4) Evaluate teen program staff and work with them to improve the quality of the program 5) Oversee all high ropes course activities 6) Responsible for all aspects of ropes course equipment care and maintenance 7) All aspects of campfires including planning, set-up, running and clean up 8) Work with the Camp Director to ensure overall program quality 9) Lead daily front line staff meetings for teen program staff 10) Attend weekly senior staff meetings 11) Assist in the smooth running and supervision of the CREW program EFFECTS ON END RESULTS: The Camp Jackson – Teen Programs Director will ensure that Camp Jackson is recognized as a quality enrichment program that provides the youth of Southern Colorado with outstanding opportunities. Program quality will rise due to innovative thinking and attention to detail. This will lead to increased camper retention.

Salary Information: $200-$300 per week (DOE) + room and board.
