Camp Name: Camp Pinewood
Camp Location: Twin Lake, MI
Camp Description: Traditional but up-to-date, Camp Pinewood features 16 cabins on a private, spring-fed lake, with every activity from sailing to horseback riding. The camp is nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest near Muskegon, Michigan. Its convenient but remote enough to ensure that everyone enjoys the natural beauty of the camps 200-acre facility.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Camp Pinewood is a diverse co-ed summer resident camp program located in Western Michigan and serving campers aged 5-17 primarily from the Chicago area. Staff are required to attend all pre-camp trainings and commit to the entirety of camp season June-August. Additional employment opportunities are available before and after these dates. Job Summary: Coordinates and supervises all activities, staff and campers at large waterfront program which includes swim lessons, sailing, kayaking, row boating, canoeing, and open swim. Works closely with Full-Time staff and other program coordinators to ensure high quality and safe programming to Pinewood campers. Scopes and Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day coordination of all waterfront programs Schedules staff to ensure safety and quality program delivery. Supervises waterfront specialists and lifeguards and provides regualr written and verbal feedback. Teaches aquatic classes or lifeguards as necessary Assists in developing program materials and distributing program information Leads training of staff and lifeguards, plans and leads in-services Act as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Provide backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies. Report injuries and complete required forms. Maintain equipment and report unsafe aspects of the waterfront. Ensure state and ACA standards are being followed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements: High School graduate and at least 21 years of age by June 24th, 2012. Two years of college preferred. Experience in camping or youth programming. Good moral judgment. Obtain prior to and hold valid certifications in Lifeguarding Waterfront, CPR-Pro, First Aid, and AED throughout employment term. Preferred certifications in at least one: WSI or LI Supervisory experience preferred. Proficient in swimming and safety skills. Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers. Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively. Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a person. Physically able to see, hear, and communicate clearly. Excellent communication skills.
