Camp Description: Two YMCA Camping and Conference Facilities located near Traverse City, Michigan. Both camps have an outstanding history of YMCA service to youth. The camps are single gender in the summer resident camp season and coed during the Fall, Winter and Spring Outdoor Education/Conference season.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Join the team of the State YMCA of Michigan and YMCA Hayo-Went-Ha Camps as the Food Service Director for our two camping branches. Located near Traverse City, Michigan, on hundreds of acres of pristine woodlands and gorgeous lakes, the food service director will oversee two camping and conference facilities that serve thousands of children annually. We offer a traditional single gender summer resident camp program for eight weeks with a very active Outdoor Education program for school groups during the Fall, Winter and Spring Months. Our weekends cater to conferences and retreat groups. Our summer resident boys camp is the oldest YMCA Boys Camp on the same site in the world. We have a long tradition of excellence at our two camping branches and we encourage motivated individuals to help us move our food service to the next level. Qualified candidates should possess a college degree or relevant educational training/experience in the food service industry. The candidate must have experience in a supervisory role in the delivery of institutional food service for large groups. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate prior experience in and/or ability to plan, prioritize and deliver institutional food service. The successful candidate must be able to show previous experience in and/or demonstrate ability to manage and motivate employees under their supervision toward a high level of care for food quality, food appearance and customer service. He or she must also be able to successfully and effectively relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Salary Information: $30,000 to $35,000 annually depending on experience. An attractive benefits package includes full family health care (employees pay 17% of total), dental. YMCA retirement at 9% according to Y guidelines and generous paid leave time. Relocation assistance available if applicable.
