YMCA of the USA AND MCS FOUNDATION LAUNCH CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF YMCAs AFFECTED BY HURRICANES IN PUERTO RICO YMCA of the USA joins MCS Foundations’ efforts to ensure help will get directly to the most affected communities

October 19, 2017 San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the wake of a growing humanitarian crisis after hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico, YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), one of the nation’s leading nonprofits, announced yesterday it has joined forces with the MCS Foundation through a $200,000 matching campaign for disaster relief efforts aimed at helping individuals, families and the communities served through the YMCAs in Puerto Rico. Donations to the Y campaign can be made via PayPal, debit or credit card through ymca.net by clicking on the support Puerto Rico banner. Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar by MCS, a leading healthcare company in Puerto Rico, to be used directly in support of the YMCAs in Puerto Rico.

The matching donation campaign is a component of “Green for Puerto Rico” campaign, a $1 million funding effort through which MCS will match up to $500,000 of tax-deductible contributions to be earmarked for use for hurricane relief. The MCS Foundation, a non-profit entity created by MCS to promote community engagement efforts, will donate 100% percent of the funds raised in the Green for Puerto Rico Campaign to non-profit organizations focused on children and/or health, consistent with its mission.

“As a leading Company dedicated to addressing Puerto Rico’s healthcare needs for 35 years, MCS acknowledges the importance of working together with community organizations such as the YMCAs in Puerto Rico. Despite the fact that their own people and their San Juan and Ponce facilities were affected during the hurricane, the YMCAs are ready to serve as places of support for the communities of San Juan and Ponce in this very difficult time for surrounding families, explained Liana Marante O’Drobinak, MCS Foundation Executive Director.

“We are pleased to be leading such an important effort, and hope that everyone is moved to donate and support Puerto Rico’s YMCA’s emergency relief efforts to help the most affected by the catastrophic hurricane,” said Rebecca Bowen, YMCA of the USA’s Executive Vice President of Financial Development and Chief Development Officer. “We sincerely appreciate the MCS Foundation’s commitment to supporting the Y’s efforts to ensure help and critical support to children, families and communities in need.”
