Camp Description
White Pines Day Camp & Teen Adventure Camp are ACA-accredited for kids in grades 1st-8th. Camp takes place inside and outside on-site at the Wayne YMCA which is a 93,000 square foot facility with over 10 archers of outside space. Near the back of the outdoor field, we put up our camp tent. This tent is where we have morning assembly, group activities, lunch and snack, as well as other programs. We also use the indoor pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, theater and classrooms inside the YMCA for STEAM, Arts & Crafts, and other specialty activities.
Job Description

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Enrichment Director will be responsible for the successful operation of all quality Youth Enrichment, Teen and Family programs, which are necessary for branch growth. The primary focus upon hire will be on camp. However, this is a year-round opportunity to include Program administration and development, fiscal management, staff administration and development, quality control, and volunteer recruitment. This position will have key support roles in strategic planning, relationship building, fundraising, and new program growth. The Enrichment Director will oversee the hiring and supervision of employees in each program, train staff and volunteers, evaluate effectiveness of programs, manage and monitor budgets and resolve all matters that may arise with parents, youth, staff and volunteers, keeping with the YMCA core values. The Director will work in collaboration with other department Directors to achieve the Association’s goals related to Youth & Family services.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Education, human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years related experience with managing multiple program activities, program development, membership & marketing, and fiscal management
  • Strong knowledge of child development, administration of youth programs with strong focus on customer service, ability to assist in the direction of multi-site programs through supervision of staff, public relations, program development and fundraising.
  • Excellent financial skills including budget preparation and project management.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of quality program development and coordination of activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Completion of YMCA Team Leader certification within 3 years.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required. 
Essential Functions
  • Establishes with the branch leadership team long range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate full range of program services for Youth, Teen and Family program areas including sports, Vacation Camp & Summer Camp grades 1-8. Ensure that all programs are relevant, have growth potential, are progressive and meet Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges objectives and other relevant standards.
  • Lead and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct employees and volunteers as needed to ensure quality programing.
  • Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Establish new quality program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assist in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Serve on the branch leadership team for strategic planning and operations, as well as serve as the liaison for Youth and Teen Enrichment programs.
