Job Description

The membership director is responsible for all aspects of membership and health/wellness which includes: customer service, membership records, recruitment/retention of members, and health/wellness programs and staff. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current certifications in group exercise (or ability to secure required certifications after hire)
  • Previous management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with other community organizations.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
Essential Functions
  • Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.  Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represent the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in fund raising activities and special events.
  • Compiles program statistics - monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of assigned programs.
  • Regularly audit memberships for accuracy and monitor membership best practices.
  • Ensure program and membership revenue is properly deposited and recorded in accordance with the YMCA policies.
