Position Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Director, the Program Director, School Programs provides leadership and management of K-8 Before and/or After School programming and summer camps for approximately 10 program sites across Orange and Lake Counties. The Program Director manages development and effective implementation of a full range of programs and planned activities in before/after school, summer camp, and teen development to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service to all students, program participants, and parents.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; management, operations management, education management or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in managing an educational program; leadership over multi-locations is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in staff supervision and leadership. 
  • Child Care experience a plus
  • A proven record of successful leadership in the areas of managing multiple departments; including creating schedules, directing staff in salaried, full-time and part-time roles. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, computer skills, including management software required; Salesforce and Technogym experience, a plus.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required.
  • Must be willing to travel within Central Florida. Must have a valid Florida driver license. The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. 
  • The physical activities of this position include: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions. May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The employee must be able to perform medium work.
  • May be required to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.  
  • Must exhibit patience and understanding. Receives and follows detailed instructions. 
  • Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind.   
  • Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and children’s well-being. Talking is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, with or without correction
  • Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment.

Essential Functions
  • Implement K-8 Before and/or After School programs to promote retention of existing program participants and engagement of new program participants. Direct staff to support the Elementary and Middle Schools and initiatives to achieve retention goals and maintain the requirements of average daily attendance.
  • Analyze data, systems and processes to recognize growth and retention opportunities within the assigned Elementary Schools and Middle School programs.
  • Ensure proper implementation of schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for program participant/staff connections while keeping within the mandated ratios. Collaborate and work effectively with all sites to achieve desired results.
  • Identify and employ best practices in systems and technology to support effective management of the assigned Elementary Schools and Middle School programs. Utilize available technology, reporting tools and data that enhance program participation and student retention.
  • Compile programming data for all contractual reporting, as well as all other reporting requirements for the Operations Director and Executive Director, including attendance reports and grant deliverables and reports.
  • Establish systems for regularly scheduled inspections to ensure proper and efficient working order of supplies, equipment and materials at all times. Purchase supplies, equipment, and materials approved by the purchase requisition process.
  • Monitor daily operations to adhere to all state, local, school district and YMCA of Central Florida health and safety standards and policies. Ensure all staff are current with required certifications.
  • Manage program quality assessments and applicable technology
  • Provide leadership to overall family center in interviewing and hiring process
  • Create and implement programs to increase participation through interactions with existing and potential students, program participants, and parents.
  • Collaborate and maintain effective relationships with school principals and other applicable school administration to maximize enrollments in program registration and participation.
  • Plan and execute events at assigned Elementary Schools and Middle School program sites. Promote the Elementary and Middle Schools program, and the YMCA of Central Florida’s special events among the students, parents and community.
  • Recruit, select, develop and retain appropriate skill depth level for each department. Supervise site staff. Support training and career succession plan for staff team.
  • Provide leadership through established performance goals and standards, regular assessment of staff performance including annual performance evaluations, and staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with the School Program Executive Director and Operations Director to plan and manage the budget. Control payroll and department purchasing costs within the budget and financial guidelines.
  • Process timecards and payroll with the HR/Payroll system to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Identify and recruit active volunteers for the Family Center Annual Scholarship Campaign.
  • All other duties assigned by management.
