Qualifications
- Preferred Age: 21+
- Previous backpacking experience preferred
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a lifeguarding certification
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a Wilderness First Aid certification
Essential Functions
- Lead off-site backpacking and camping trips with a group of teenage campers
- Assist in planning routes, travel, and menu
- Inspect equipment before/after each trip
- Safely transport campers to/from campsite and trails
- Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values
- Ensure the emotional, mental, and physical safety of all participants
- Complete required paperwork in timely manner
- Work in tandem with other camp staff to create a safe and welcoming experience for all
- Effectively manage camper behavior and homesickness
- Inform leadership staff of any camper concerns
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control, maturity, responsibility, sound judgment, and good decision-making skills
- Be of good character, and in sympathy with the goals and objectives of YMCA Camp Piomingo
- Other duties as assigned
STARTING SALARY: $450+/week (DOE)
STATUS: Part-time; Non-exempt, Seasonal
SHIFT: Sunday – Friday, daily hourly breaks, housing and meals provided
