Job Description

This position builds the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact; develops and implements effective marketing and communication strategies; manages press opportunities and responds to inquiries from the media, and supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous professional experience in communications, advertising, and public relations.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries/crisis communications.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and executes the Y’s annual marketing and public relations plans.
  • Produces all mass communications materials, including digital and traditional marketing.
  • Collaborates with management to develop and implement an effective marketing communications strategy based on our target audience, launching monthly/quarterly campaigns regarding childcare, membership, and other Y offerings.
  • Leads the coordination of the branches’ communication.
  • Leads the trainings for the staff to know how to communicate properly.
  • Leads the coordination and production of the YMCA’s paid and organic social media communications.
  • Creates press releases, e-communications, newsletters, annual report, community benefit report, etc.
  • Maintains electronic files of all department work.
  • Develops monitors and administers an assigned budget.
  • Develops effective working relationships with external audiences, service groups, community organizations, vendors, or companies.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships and contacts with media outlet representatives.
  • Prepares scripts, speeches, and talking points as needed.
  • Maintains Greater Valley YMCA external and intranet websites, managing web lead generation efforts.
  • Provides leadership and maintains good relationships with key YMCA staff and volunteers.
  • Monitors the achievement of department and supplies all reports as requested.
  • Plans and takes appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary

$55,000.00 - $65,000.00
