Job Description

The Early Childhood Director is responsible for the administration of all Early Childhood Department programs and activities at multiple sites, including the supervision and training of staff, program safety, and management of the annual budget.

Qualifications

1. High school graduate or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. Previous experience working with children preferably in an early childhood setting.

3. Strong written/ verbal communication skills and human relations skills required.

4. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

5. Ability to direct programs through supervision of staff.

6. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the community.

7. At least 18 years of age

8. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

9. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Oversee and direct the development, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, services, and activities of all Early Childhood Programs.

2. Supervise and mentor all early childhood staff members, including hiring, training, and evaluation.

3. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, policies, and activities that ensure the safety of participants and staff and the cleanliness of the early childhood program and office areas.

4. At all times, model, reinforce, and abide by the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and the Cole YMCA Code of Conduct.

5. Develop and manage the annual budget for all early childhood programs.

6. Teach all levels of curriculum as needed.

7. Maintain open and frequent communication with parents and staff. Be available to meet with parents and staff as requested.

8. Maintain accurate, confidential, and updated records for all students.

9. Coordinate all special events including student registration, field trips, parent orientation, parent/teacher conferences, end of year ceremonies and all other preschool related functions or events.

10. Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that the YMCA program standards are met and safety protocols followed.

11. Operates as part of the leadership team and accepts assignments as part of the team.

12. Asses unmet needs throughout the community for early childhood programming and initiate plans for growth as appropriate.

13. Measure program effectiveness and quality against established standards.
