YMCA Camp Duncan is located just 50 miles north of Chicago in Ingleside IL. The camp sits on 300 acres located on Fish Lake and offers amenities such as a 48-foot climbing tower, a high ropes course, archery, waterfront, woodlands, and nature trails. Camp Duncan has overnight camp, day camp and medical camps that serve children ages 7-17 as well as outdoor education and group service rentals. Job Description

Under the supervision of the Camp Duncan Executive Director, the Program Director for Group Services coordinates, directs and develops the use of YMCA Camp Duncan for all group service programs including outdoor education, weekend/conference outings, scout trips, church outings, banquets and other groups/programs as assigned. The Program Director lives onsite and serves as the leader in facilitating a quality experience for guests.

Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Camp Duncan Executive Director, the Program Director for Group Services coordinates, directs and develops the use of YMCA Camp Duncan for all group service programs including outdoor education, weekend/conference outings, scout trips, church outings, banquets and other groups/programs as assigned. The Program Director lives onsite and serves as the leader in facilitating a quality experience for guests.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure procedures, policies and public relations at all times.
  • Responsible for the continued development, implementation, growth and evaluation of all components of the group services and rental group department. Rental programs include weekend/conference programs, outdoor education, scout retreats, banquets, public events, and other programs as assigned or developed.
  • Provide high-quality customer service including maintaining positive relationships with all customer bases from the point of contact through program delivery. Serve as resident host to facilitate a quality experience for all groups. (May include weekends & nights)
  • Responsible for hiring, supervision, and management of group services staff as well as assistant director. The group services assistant director will serve as host to assigned groups as assigned by the Program Director and approved by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all customer bases from the point of contact, scheduling, program development, and evaluation.
  • Articulate safety concerns, emergency procedures, risk management issues to staff and customers. Operate programs adhering to all state laws and ACA standards.
  • Responsible for overseeing adventure/challenge/high ropes/aquatic activities within rental group programs.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising part-time and/or seasonal staff that are needed to facilitate camp rental group programs.
  • Work closely with the Food Service Manager and Property Manager to coordinate foodservice and facility needs of the customers.
  • Act as a team member, working closely and professionally with other staff on all interrelated matters.
  • Responsible for a budget and for achieving revenue goals and for controlling expenses. Responsible for preparing the group service department budget.
  • Responsible for the marketing of group rental programs. This includes preparation and dissemination of camp literature as well as communicating in person and on the phone to potential user groups.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate files and records.
  • Responsible for maintaining the proper use of all camp equipment.
  • Work with the Camp Executive Director to learn all facets of camp programming and operations beyond assigned programs.
  • Must be able to clear a driving record check and have a current driver's license.
