Job Description

Under the direction of the Camp Property Manager and in accordance with the policies of the Greater Green Bay YMCA, the Housekeeping/Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for completing general maintenance and housekeeping functions inside and outside of the buildings.


Must be at least 18 years old. This position requires the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels. It also requires the ability to complete all assigned tasks to meet timelines being conscientious, thorough and detail-oriented. The Housekeeping/Maintenance Assistant must demonstrate a willingness to learn and accept responsibility, to take initiative, be adaptable and flexible to perform efficiently and effectively. Requires prolonged physical exertion, including standing, lifting, bending, climbing, and other rigorous activity. This position must also be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Current drivers’ license with acceptable history of safe driving practices required.

Essential Functions

  • Perform Camp housekeeping functions; maintain high level of cleanliness both inside and outside of the buildings.
  • Work cooperatively to assist the Camp Property Manager with special projects, general maintenance tasks and other responsibilities designated by the supervisor.
  • Know and follow the safety guidelines related to working with chemicals and equipment and complying with safety regulations and codes.
  • Communicate with Camp Property Manager regarding any problem areas discovered in the building, equipment problems, or safety concerns.
  • Record completion of duties on an accurate and timely basis by using required checklist and Shop Orders as directed by the Camp Property Manager.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule and work cooperatively to assist with special projects, deep cleaning, general maintenance tasks and other responsibilities designated by the supervisor.
  • Maintain and organized and safe work area related to storage of chemicals, paper products, tools and other housekeeping and maintenance supplies and disposal of bio-hazardous materials.
  • Assist with maintaining outside area around the YMCA building by keeping sidewalks and landscape clean and neat, and assist with snow removal during the winter.
  • Know and follow established human resource procedures and center policies and procedures.
