Job Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Strategy Officer, and as a member of the association leadership team, the Association Director of Healthy Living is primarily responsible for leading efforts to achieve association-wide health and wellness goals to accomplish objectives of the strategic plan. The Director of Healthy Living will work closely with branch leadership to develop and implement quality programs to improve the health and well-being of our members and community. This will include programming such as but not limited to: personal and small group training, nutrition, pickleball, youth sports, E-Sports, and Stride for All.


Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Community Health or related field

5 years in a YMCA management role or related experience

Strong leadership, management and collaboration skills

Excellent communicator, with the ability to lead and influence across a matrix-ed organization

Strong time management and organization skills

Computer and mathematical competence and ability to perform statistical analyses and prepare reports

Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and make sound independent judgement

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people, and build relationships with staff, members and participants

CPR, AED and First Aid certification

Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Essential Functions

Develop a focused healthy living programming plan to address all ages and abilities helping them to meet their health and wellness goals and have an excellent member experience.

Regularly solicit member input and feedback on Y programming to continuously improve offerings and experience

Follow trends and implement innovative programming to keep YGBW relevant and sustainable.

Provide leadership to the Healthy Living Experience team to ensure a unified brand experience.

Lead healthy living planning and execution of new programs, which includes, but is not limited to: implementing association policies, procedures and best practices and staff training in the areas of member service, member involvement, healthy living programs and communication.

Manage the Stride for All program and be point person for the program sites. Work to incorporate program at elementary school sites once again.

Serve as liaison with West Chester University for collaborative programming and partnership opportunities.

Oversee growth of association strategy around pickleball including a robust intro, lesson, clinic, leagues and tournament schedule.

Supervise f/t personal training director to centralize a professional quality personal and small group training program.

Coordinate annual Association strength and cardio equipment purchases in coordination with CFO.

Coordinate association youth sports program including multiple basketball leagues, one soccer season, and sport camp offerings.

Coordinate E-Sport leagues and offerings.

Works closely with grants administration team to secure funding and execute deliverables of the grants as appropriate.

Collaborate with Marketing and IT to leverage technology by continuously creating a more robust, friendly and efficient member experience.

Serve as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for the YMCA's community integrated and behavioral health initiatives, programs, and strategies.

Recruit, develop and supervise staff relevant to our healthy living and sport objectives.

Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
