Job Description

Responsible for hosting groups at Camp Jewell. They will work alongside the Program Directors to help evaluate and develop new programs. During the summer they will hold a key leadership position within our camp program.


  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in camp or related field.
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • Ability to visibly observe children.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and transport equipment from one location to another.
  • Ability to demonstrate and lead activities.
  • Ability to communicate with parents and children effectively.
  • Ability to hear distress signals even when distracted by noise and activity.
  • Ability to reason, solve problems and make sound decisions even when distracted by noise and activity.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat and humidity.
  • Observe and promote safety and security procedures.
  • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid effectively.

Essential Functions


1. Has a desire to care for, work with and motivate staff and participants. This includes understanding their needs and placing these needs and the objectives of camp before personal needs.

2. Manage and care for all equipment and facilities related to program

3. Assist with recruiting, training and supervision of up to 40 seasonal program staff.

4. Host user groups at Camp Jewell including scheduling staff, creating group schedules, meeting with groups prior to their arrival and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

5. Assist Summer Camp Director with development of programming and recruiting of campers.

6. Assist with the evaluation of program and staff.

7. Provide leadership to summer camp village during summer including support and supervision.
