Job Description

Serves as a member of the People & Culture Team providing services to our customers: the employees of the association. The desired outcome of efforts is to decrease the administrative burden that the operational staff would otherwise have in the area of effectively managing human capital. The Director of Performance and Analytics will also lead communication efforts, assist to create and then contribute to a culture of equity and belonging and contribute to the overall success of the organization.


  • A bachelor's degree and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience, or similar combination of education and experience. Professional Human Resources certification preferred.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, Kronos (or similar HRIS), social networking for business purposes

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

2. Challenge our current way of thinking, current systems, team and policies to ensure we are designing systems that support true equity and inclusion.

3. Manages workers compensation and unemployment claims and costs by gathering & recording documentation, investigating and responding to claims. Provides information to third-party administrators and coaching to staff in preparation for hearings.

4. Files EEO-1, OSHA 300, and National Y reports annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to government and association regulations.

5. Works with HR Generalists to oversee FMLA administration and Hours of Care Sick Time Pledge Program.

6. Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.

7. Leads employee communication efforts to support cause-driven culture as well as participating in employee recognition efforts.

8. Participates in administering the compensation program; monitors association job descriptions and performance evaluation system, and revises each as necessary.

9. Works in conjunction with Interim Executive Director of People & Culture to develop and implement new policies/procedures.

10. Participates in employee investigations and Ethics Point Reports, as needed.

11. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

12. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

13. Serves as “Subject Matter Expert” for HRIS Database; compiles reports from system, creates forms and workflows for user ease. Stays current on HRIS system and has oversight of HRIS projects and updates.

Required Certifications

  • YMCA Team Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months.Requires completion of: Principles and Practices, Introduction to Volunteerism, Introduction to Leading Others, Introduction to Fiscal Management, Leadership Competency Assessment, Team Leader Certification Test.
