Job Description

This position supports the work of the Bangor Region YMCA, a leading nonprofit in Maine committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Project Coordinator works closely with YMCA staff whose programs are funded by grants to ensure grant outcomes are implemented, measured, evaluated and delivered as outlined in grant applications to funders. The Project Coordinator is an important liaison between Y staff - through helping to oversee program implementation of grant deliverables - and grant funders through grants reporting. This position reports to the Y’s Grants Director who oversees organizational needs and strategies for grant funding


  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with project management and/or grant reporting.
  • Experience with Y programs preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a liaison between YMCA staff, the Grants Director and funders to ensure grant outcomes are delivered as outlined in grant applications.
  • Schedules and leads regular meetings with Y program staff, from the beginning of the grants process (application) to the end (grant reporting) to ensure needs by staff and funders are being met.
  • Monitors and oversees grant deliverables using spreadsheets and other tracking means.
  • Gathers and presents accurate information to funders in the form of grant reports.
  • Works closely with the Y’s finance department to track grant expenditures in accordance with each grant agreement. Ensures that the funds are utilized in a proper way as planned.
  • Monitors paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs.
  • Assist Grants Director with researching grant opportunities and sharing these opportunities with Y staff.

Required Certifications

College graduate. Experience with the YMCA organization desirable. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (although this can be obtained once hired within 30 days). Trainings to be completed before start of duties include Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens, Workplace Violence, Sexual Harassment, and Elder Abuse.
