Position Description

A YMCA Executive Director's goal is to have a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the people and the communities they serve. As theExecutive Directorof theWeingart East LA YMCAyou will have a special opportunity to create a lasting legacy while taking your career to new heights!

The Weingart East LA YMCA is located in Boyle Heights, a neighborhood in the city ofLos Angelesin theEastsideregion of Los Angeles County. The community has a population of over 150,000 people with a median annual household income of about $34,136. The Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA community is family oriented; the members enjoy the strong sense of community and safety that the YMCA provides. Boyle Heights is one of the oldest communities in the City of Los Angeles. Prior to World War II, Boyle Heights had a large Jewish, Russian, and Japanese population. In later decades, it became primarily a Latino community. Boyle Heights is truly one of Los Angeles' original diverse communities.

The Weingart East LA YMCA has an operating budget of $2.1M. The contributed revenue from Annual Campaign and other efforts is near $400,000. With your financial development expertise, we know that we can do even better! You will supervise and develop a 6-member leadership team and 59 part-time, point-of-contact staff. The Weingart East LA YMCA encompasses 2,576 membership units, which are primarily family based, and currently subsidizes about 53% of its enrollment.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong
community development, fiscal management, financial development and volunteer leadership skills to lead agrowingand thriving YMCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects ofWeingart East LA YMCA, ensuring that we are operating efficiently,meeting the communities needsand effectively meetorganizationalgoals. In this role, you will be working closely with the Board of Managers, volunteers, community leaders and partnersto continue to position the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA as the beacon of hope within the community.



  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent
  • 6 (six) or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations and program development
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement. Ability to recruit top community leaders
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with Board members
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred
