The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a full time Lead Site Coach to join our SHARKS team. SHARKS is a YMCA/USA Swim Team located north of Boston on the North Shore. We are a 6 site team with over 400 competitive age group swimmers from age 5 -18 of varying levels, 150 pre-competitive swimmers and over 100 Masters Swimmers. As a full time Lead Site Coach you will work with the Head Coach to help oversee the direction and development of the middle school and high school swimmers, and the coach staffin Beverly. In this role you will help torecruit and develop the coaching staff, develop the growth of the teams and manage the relationships with equipment vendors, team sponsors and works with the parent volunteer management group. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials. This position requires a genuine interest in people, and the ability to build relationships with our members to effectively develop a sense of ownership while instilling the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Qualifications

  • 5 + years of experience as an elite level coach
  • Previous leadership experience and strong management skills
  • Demonstrableability and knowledge of swimmer development and stroke technique
  • Fluent with Team Unify and Meet Manager
  • Certified in ASCA, USA Swimming, YMCA Swimming, Lifeguard/Red Cross Safety Training for Coaches (any certifications not in place must be acquired in your first 3-6 months

Essential Functions

  1. Lead structured swim team practices focusing on stroke technique, competition preparedness, relationship building and collaboration based on the YNS competitive swim schedule.

  2. Maintain consistent, clear, effective and positive communication with youth and parents on the team. Personally build relationships with YMCA members through daily interactions.

  3. Attend all swim team events such as meets, meetings, trainings, social events, etc.;

  4. Keep detailed and accurate records as needed including attendance, work-outs and swimmer progression. Assist in swim team social event planning, as necessary.

  5. Work collaboratively with the local Y aquatics staff to support member engagement. Be proactive and flexible in addressing community needs regarding competitive aquatics.

  6. Remain up to date regarding aquatics trends National Y as well as emerging YMCA trends within aquatic programming and advocate for the expansion or changing of programs and services aligned with those trends.

  7. Assist in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, drills, etc.

  8. Assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations. Record times at swim meets.

  9. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for swim team participants;

  10. All other duties as directed or required for the overall success of the organization.
