Job Description

As part of a team, provide responsible care for Y-Haven residents and perform tasks to assist with the safe and effective operation of the program. The Operations Assistant is responsible for helping provide a safe and secure living environment for Y-Haven residents providing practical support for operational activities.


Perform regular room checks looking for banned items, paraphernalia and contraband in client living quarters. Record and report findings to Director, Operations. And record resident incidents / disturbances.

  • Administer First Aid, CPR, AED and Narcan as needed to residents of Y-Haven. And provide these to residents as needed.
  • Ensure all safety and risk management procedures are adhered to; report any unusual or unsafe conditions to Director, Operations.
  • Report low supply levels to Director, Operations according to par levels provided.
  • Monitor and report vehicle maintenance schedules to supervisor.
  • Monitor Y-Haven facility for unusual conditions report to leadership.
  • Ability to offer support to residents by listening to, interacting with, respecting, showing interest in, holding accountable and caring for each individual.
  • Provide pick up and drop off service of medications between pharmacy and facility at least twice weekly and as needed.
  • Provide pick up, drop off, organization and distribution service for donated food and other items at least twice weekly and as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible for following the child abuse and neglect reporting process including completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate Supervisor, Branch Executive, Risk Management and Human Resources Department (s). All employees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland are mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.




  • High School degree or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.


  • At least one year work experience with drug and alcohol addiction and/or 12-step recovery programs required

Essential Functions


  • CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License (Ability to be covered under the YMCA of Greater Cleveland Insurance)
  • Must be Narcan certified within first 30 days.
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant license preferred.
  • Required to attend all Y-Haven and YMCA meetings and trainings.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass a department of motor vehicle check per the YMCA of Greater Cleveland Insurance company.


$11.00 - $11.50
