The Corona-Norco Family YMCA was founded in 1974 through partnerships with the City of Corona and City of Norco to provide child development for the community. Since that date, the Y has expanded through over 100 partnerships and is now operating twelve locations to continue caring for and nurturing the lives of children, while expanding to serve all ages with healthy lifestyles and educational enrichment.

Governance: The YMCA is led by a strong Board of Directors, comprised of twenty-three volunteer community leaders.

Staff: 16 full-time administrative leaders, 73 full and 44 part-time program leaders

Membership: 22,000 youth, adults and families are involved annually

Core Programs:

  • Child Development: Full-day childcare and part time childcare; infants, toddlers, and school age. Middle and high school leadership programs.
  • Healthy Lifestyles: Youth sports, Health and fitness, Family wellness

The City of Corona is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles in western Riverside County. The City limits encompass 39.2 square miles and the population is over 168,000. A city whose heritage spans more than a century, Corona has emerged as an ethnically diverse community, where a significant percentage of the population is made up of young, well- educated families.

The Corona community boasts many amenities that provide a first-rate quality of life for residents. The City has more than 394 acres of parks, with sports fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, tennis courts, two skateparks and an outdoor pool.

  1. Accredited 4-year college degree.
  2. Minimum three years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
  3. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
  4. Must have sound business management skills with a conservative fiscal philosophy.
  5. Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
  6. Must have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered, for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.

Preferred Candidate Criteria:

  1. YMCA Organizational Leader Certification. If the candidate does not possess this, then he or she must obtain it within three years from the date of hire.
  2. Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual and capital campaigns.
  3. Project management experience with capital projects, including new facility construction and implementation of promotional plans.
  4. A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management.
  5. Individual with a distinguished track record in operational excellence, team leadership and fund development to play a critical role in our community impact.

Essential Functions

The Board of Directors of the Corona-Norco Family YMCA is seeking a mission-focused, collaborative leader who embodies the core values of the YMCA. The new CEO will be committed to working at a high strategic level with the Board of Directors and will oversee an annual budget of $6M, 117 employees and 2,750 volunteers.

The board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit him or her to achieve excellence in the areas of:

  • Social, political and community connections/visibility - state and local
  • Federal/State grant writing and management
  • Business acumen


  • Advocate the Vision of the YMCA and be the Heart and Soul of the Operation: Act as an ambassador for the mission, cause, and vision for the YMCA within the community, with the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, while always upholding the highest standards of the values of the YMCA’s heritage. Ensure the Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose and each other.
  • Lead a Culture of Philanthropy: Develop and implement an annual support fundraising plan that will establish the YMCA as a leading charitable organization within the community through the engagement of members, volunteers, staff, and donors. Recognizing the tradition of successful capital fundraising at the Y, take the organization to a new level of effectiveness and impact in annual giving and endowment.
  • Fiscal Management: Use high level of financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth and stability, while consistently leading organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies.
  • Operating Performance: Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key YMCA goals and objectives. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs and manage and direct the Association’s operations and activities.
  • Develop and Foster Effective Partnerships: Engage with school districts, colleges, universities, top employers, chambers of commerce, health facilities, hospitals, prominent citizens, elected officials throughout the Y footprint to expand program opportunities.

Starting Salary Range:$125,000 - $150,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience

Residency Expectation:Living in the YMCA’s service area is preferred.
