Job Description

How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:

As a Y Vice President of Human Resources, you willpartner closely with key stakeholders to support and drive the implementation of human resource policies and procedures consistent with the Y’s overall strategic plan and vision. You will develop, update, implement and interpret the Y’s Human Resources policies and procedures and to guide management with application and implementation. You will provides counsel to managers and supervisors with regards to associate relations issues, policy interpretation and clarification. You will lead the compensation & benefits, and performance management functions for the organization. As a Y Vice President of Human Resources, you’ll contribute to the Y and to the larger community we serve by leveraging your human resources and equity skills to positively impact Y associates who support the Y mission and to help advance it.

  • A least 7 years of increasing responsibility in Human Resources functions (including management) with a concentration in associate relations, compensation and benefits
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to negotiate, counsel, advise and influence managers relating to human
    resources issues
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • An advanced understanding of laws and regulations governing employment and benefits practices
  • Proficiency in business and human resources related systems (human capital, talent management systems, time and attendance systems, etc.)
  • A bachelor’sdegree in a related field
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP professional certification (preferred)

Essential Functions

  • Works with CPO to create organizational policies and structures that remove barriers and foster equity and inclusion for all.
  • Works closely with CPO and operations leaders to develop strategies to deal effectively with associate relations issues. Provides guidance to associates and managers in resolving complex associate relations issues in a fair and equitable manner and in the Y’s best interests.
  • Leads and executes the annual processes for talent review, performance management and succession planning.
  • Oversees compensation and benefit programs, including job description and classification, salary structure and salary adjustments. Oversees benefit plan communication, enrollment and administration. Assesses the competitiveness of human resources programs and practices against the relevant markets and makes recommendations for improvements and changes. Advises CPO and organization on pay equity issues.
  • Works closely with the Y’s Director of HR systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data and to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by the EEOC, Department of Labor, State of Maryland and others.
  • Conduct investigations and effectively prepare responses to EEOC and other litigation cases; represent the Y in EEOC cases, unemployment hearings, and consults with CPO and attorneys to bring cases to resolution.
