Job Description

The Business Manager is a Full-Time, Exempt employee of the Wendell P. Clark Memorial YMCA and provides leadership and oversight of the YMCA’s financial and business transactions. Oversees the YMCA’s accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness. Coordinates the annual audit, the 990-tax return, and other required State and Federal filings and Grant information. Oversees employee payroll and benefits compensation, through a third-party vendor and provides leadership support for other clerical staff functions, such as maintenance of employee files.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in related field.

2. Three or more years of related experience in accounting, preferably non-profit.

3. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

4. Knowledge of, and expertise with, QuickBooks and standard business software.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FINANCIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Manages all functions of accounting operations, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met, and that best practices and maximum efficiency are obtained. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness to adequately safeguard the YMCA’s financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data.

2. Supervises Part-Time Bookkeeper and responsible for division of duties in oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Reconcile / Record daily deposits, Monthly Bank Reconciliation, Journal Entries, daily/monthly financial reports.

3. Coordinates with independent auditing firm(s) on the preparation of financial statements, annual audit, all State and Federal Tax, and other regulatory filings as necessary. Serves as liaison with audit teams and YMCA Finance Committees.

4. Provides leadership and recommendations of the annual budget process including issuing guidance and recommendations of procedures, overseeing data input, and preparation of reports.

5. Oversees the month-end and year-end closings and the preparation of statements and reports.

6. Manage and oversee personnel and payroll administration including maintaining records and related systems.

7. Collects and maintains data on contracts and grants.

8. Works directly with assigned committees of the board (Finance Committee).

ESSENTIAL HUMAN RESOURCE FUNCTIONS:

1. Oversight of HR Files and Compliance with support from Y-USA and Third-Party HR Service provider.

2. Oversees employee compensation and benefit programs with our independent broker and Third-Party Payroll Provider.

3. Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel.

4. Oversees HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.

Salary

$40,000.00 - $48,000.00
