Job Description

Company Overview:

The Boys and Girls Club and YMCA at the Alfond Youth and Community Center, a non-profit organization that serves the Central Maine community and beyond, is looking for a full-time Director of Finance to join our family.

Management Responsibilities:

·Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

·Manage the operations of the accounting department, including their design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives

·Manage and oversee the accounting department personnel

Reporting:

·Issue timely and complete financial statements

·Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

·Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

·Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

·Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance:

·Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audits

·File annual, semiannual and monthly Boys and Girls Club reports and YMCA reports

·Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

· Masters or Bachelor’s degree in accounting along with 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or operational finance

· Functional experience in accounting practices for non-profit

· Experience leading and developing a high performing team

· Exceptional interpersonal skills required and the ability to work cooperatively with others

· The ability to multi-task and prioritize job duties

· Highly proficient with spreadsheet, database, and practice management applications

· Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate new and current staff

Essential Functions

The Director of Finance is accountable for the accounting operations of the organization.Maintaining thorough and accurate financial records and to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the organizations reported financial results, and to ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP.
