Position Summary:

The Tennis Director is responsible for overall management and development of tennis teams, programs, retention, and facilities. This role is accountable for maximizing member satisfaction, exceeding the financial plan, and providing leadership for the Williams YMCA Tennis Program.


  1. Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  2. USPTA or USPTR certified.
  3. 5+ Years managing team/club tennis.
  4. A strong work-ethic and leadership abilities and skills.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions

  1. Creates and manages budget effectively.
  2. Develops harmonious relationships with staff, members, volunteers, vendors and community leaders.
  3. Directs all Tennis communications, including the newsletter and social media updates.
  4. Supervises all Tennis staff to include recruiting, scheduling, training, and providing professional development opportunities.
  5. Enthusiastically encourages tennis participation by planning and implementing events to promote the sport and provide social activities to the tennis members.
  6. Enforces all YMCA policies, rules and regulations governing use of the facility.
  7. Supervises court maintenance and holds special knowledge about the maintenance of clay courts and maintaining them in the highest possible level of playing condition.
  8. Drives and improves overall financial health of the tennis programs by growing revenue consistently year-over-year and actively monitoring and controlling expenses.
  9. Demonstrates sound judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  10. Utilizes volunteers and resource teams well.
