We serve more than 850 children and families in our 24 school year locations for before/after school and preschool programs, 4 summer camp sites, and other enrichment programs during the year throughout Allen County, Indiana.

Job Summary

The Child Care Services Branch of the YMCA, has an immediate opening for a Program Director. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Director supervises assigned preschool programs, sites and staff including the day-to-day operations of the programs, development of quality programming/curriculum, positive communications with parents and school administration, regular site visits and staff professional development. The ideal candidate has a passion for impacting the lives of the youth in the community. Asuccessful director will be a detail-oriented, effective listener, strong team builder and have a passion for serving others.


Starting Salary Range: $36,500-$39,500

  1. Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
  2. Two to three years of previous experience with preschool-aged children and developmental stages is preferred.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred. A combination of equivalent work experience, education and training may be considered.
  4. Previous experience building a team, running programs, and supervising others is preferred.
  5. Experience in, or ability to, expertly relate to diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop, implement, and promote dynamic quality new preschool programs and expand current programs to support engagement, promote program growth and retention in accordance with strategic and operating plans for assigned locations.
  2. Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of part-time before/after school preschool site employees and volunteers.
  3. Develop and strengthen relationships with youth participants, parents, schools and community organizations. Plan special events and committee participation as applicable.
  4. Ensure compliance with state/local regulations and YMCA program standards as they relate to preschool. Assure the upkeep of assigned program sites and equipment.
  5. Develop and monitor department budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  6. Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events where applicable.


$35,600.00 - $39,500.00
