Camp Description

The Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA owns and operates YMCA Camp Kresge, a beautiful 1,100 acre facility located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Situated on the banks of Beaver Lake, YMCA Camp Kresge offers a wide variety of programs for the families, children, adults, school groups, corporate retreats and team building, facility rentals, and other organized groups.

Job Description

Make a difference in local campers' lives! This position will supervise/facilitate daily activities of a trail group of similarly aged children with a co-counselor. Camp activities include archery, arts & crafts, mountain scooters, climbing tower, weekly field trips, and more. Activity training provided. Must commit to being a positive role model to all campers in your care.


  • Minimum age: 17 years old
  • Experience in working with children (camp, coaching, babysitting church etc) strongly preferred

Essential Functions

  • Be a positive role model for all campers at all times.
  • Supervise and engage with campers in your trail group, helping them have a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Facilitate scheduled camp program areas in a safe and enjoyable way. Assist campers with skill-building throughout their summer.
  • Maintain a clean camp environment, including bathrooms, dining hall, program areas and grounds.
  • Uphold YMCA character values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) and good sportsmanship in the camp culture.
  • Promptly report incidents, accidents and facility issues to Directors.
  • Provide a daily report on your trail group to the Day Camp Coordinator.
  • Supervise before care/after care sites as scheduled.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and professional appearance at all times. Wear a clean Staff Shirt on Mondays and Field Trip Days.
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol free body at all times while working.
  • Arrive at work on time and prepared for the day. Ensure your trail group is on time for scheduled activities.
  • Complete duties as assigned by your supervisor or Camp Director as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable camp experience for all participants.
  • Apply disciplinary needs in a manner appropriate with YMCA standards. There is a zero-tolerance policy for bullying from staff OR campers.
