Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Marketing Coordinator is under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and within the policies established by the Wallingford Family YMCA. The Marketing Coordinator works with the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness on the development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy including branding, communications, budgeting, and public relations in order to support YMCA leadership, while strengthening the mission of the Wallingford Family YMCA.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and at least two years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the concepts, practices and procedures related to the field of marketing.

Demonstrated expertise in website content management systems and web analytics tools.

Attention to detail and the ability to synthesize complex ideas into coherent, compelling case statements and communications materials.

Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software, including Microsoft and Adobe products.

Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.

A well-developed understanding of accounting and budgets.

Experience in a non-profit/cause-driven environment a plus.

Essential Functions

Supports the growth and development of programs, membership sales and fundraising.

Implements Association image and guidelines, provides leadership and counsel in the areas of marketing and graphic design.

Assists in the development of a strategic marketing plan specifying our marketing channels (e.g., print, radio, cable, direct mail, social media and email) and the appropriate messages to individuals to strengthen their participation both as members and donors.

Creates and manages in-house marketing and visual presentations.

Maintains strong in-house presence across all Wallingford Family YMCA member and program sites in order to establish relationships with members and staff, to support management, and to identify marketing needs that address specific sites and programs.

Assists in developing a formal media relations program including regular distribution of news releases and distribution of public service announcements as needed.

Administers the Wallingford Family YMCA’s website; responsible for all online social media content.

Conducts market research to help identify trends and opportunities in the marketplace, member needs and levels of satisfaction; assist other departments with research projects as needed.

Participate in the YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign

Act as YMCA Liaison to a community agency, to be determined.

Member of the YMCA’s Leadership Team.

Assists in preparing and monitoring the annual budget for marketing and media relations, and is responsible for meeting the budget.

Assume other responsibilities as assigned to ensure the overall operations of the Y and to support teamwork

Salary

$38,000.00 - $43,000.00
