Job Description

The Extended Season Staff will be actively involved in the implementation of all activities based on an interdisciplinary curriculum and other responsibilities of the program. The staff member will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the health, welfare, care and safety of all participants at all times.
  • Supervising and providing instruction on all assigned activities throughout the day.
  • Leading group games, team building initiatives for children and adults.
  • Living with (as needed) and supervising campers in a cabin for three day camps.
  • Leading, assisting, and participating in evening programs, camp fires, and entertainment for participants.
  • Acting as a positive role model for campers, students, parents, teachers, patrons, and your colleagues.
  • Upkeep of the facilities and equipment on a daily basis. Maintaining the facilities for safety, cleanliness, and appearance—to that end, occasional manual labor is to be expected. (Cleaning, picking up trash, yard work, etc.)
  • Being a positive and willing member of the staff, assisting in all programs.
  • Abiding by the Basic Staff Requirements of Camp Sea Gull/Seafarer's Programs.


  • Works well with children and adults
  • College Degree or equivalent/related experience in the camping field
  • Willing to work cooperatively with other staff members
  • Willing and able to work outdoors
  • Creative self-starter willing to follow through
  • First Aid / CPR / CDL / Lifeguard Training / Coast Guard license a plus

Essential Functions

Work schedule for Spring Extended Season 2020:

  • In residence Tuesday, March 24th – Monday, May 18th
  • Check in March 24th by 2:00 pm for Staff Training
  • Time off will be based on a 5 day on / 2 day off work week, or the equivalent thereof according to the days worked throughout the season. The two days are not always consecutive and most often fall during the week.
  • Days off for Easter: April 10-13
