Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Marketing and Involvement Director is responsible for effectively implementing the marketing plan with an emphasis on retention of campers and guests, securing new program participants, promoting a positive YMCA image in the community, and growing philanthropic contributions. This position is responsible for the supervision of designated full-time and part-time employees (if applicable), volunteer recruitment, as it relates to member engagement, satisfaction and retention. Will produce newsletters and oversee all member events.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, recreation or related field, or its equivalent, is required and 2-4 years professional experience. Must possess outstanding public relations skills, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous and professional manner with people and enjoy a high degree of public contact, both within the YMCA facility and the community. High level of written, oral and people-oriented communication skills and the ability to work independently and handle numerous projects concurrently is required. Ability to use word processing software, with database and spreadsheet software ability highly desirable. Ability to use desktop publishing for marketing functions preferred. Strong organizational and marketing skills are highly desirable. Experience and ability with maintaining website (wordpress experience preferred) and utilizing other electronic media (e.g. social media) to engage and inform members. Thorough knowledge of budget development and management, income production and expense control is essential. Ability to establish positive relationships with community organizations, schools, and corporations in promotion of programs, fundraising and the YMCA mission.

Essential Functions

  • Designated as a First Responder in the event of an emergency.
  • Understand, implement, and revise the camp marketing plan as needed to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the center contact for all aspects of marketing, including but not limited to parent guides, newsletters, social media, center website, camp session pictures, blogs, etc.
  • Give leadership to our annual campaign organization and efforts including campaign preparation, special event organization, recruitment and communication with campaign volunteers, proposal writing, and stewardship.
  • Support capital and endowment fundraising efforts by leading donor prospect appointment setting, tour booking, and cultivation.
  • Use marketing efforts to achieve recruitment and targeted participation from volunteers to support various aspects of camp operations
  • Work closely with leadership team and program team to provide excellent communication with camper families and various stakeholders on a year-round basis through birthday cards, newsletters, letters, and other touchpoints.
  • Initiate process for calling non renewed camper families and un-booked user groups to try to retain their involvement and gather feedback. Schedule staff and volunteers to support this important process at key times throughout the year.
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, recognition, including recording/reporting requirements for volunteers.
  • Maintain, organize and monitor camp web page and social media.
  • Coordinate, implement, and evaluate selected special promotions and events for camp, including preparation of marketing and promotional materials to achieve attendance and revenue goals.
  • Implement and oversee camper and parent focus groups (surveys, suggestions, complaints, etc.).
  • Serve as a liaison for community and Association events (e.g. healthy kids day, Flat Rock in your centers, family programs, etc.), increasing the number of relationships/collaborations with community partners.
  • Research and coordinate production of quarterly camp newsletter (camp announcements/special events, announcements and feature member stories).
  • Prepare and submit reports as requested.
  • As appropriate, serve as the center representative at any Association Cabinets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Acquaint campers and guests with other YMCA programs and benefits.
  • Develop relationships and be intentional about implementing small communities.
  • Support our annual fundraising program by inviting campers and guests to contribute and secure volunteers.
  • Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteers.
  • Provide an environment that values diversity and builds the 40 Developmental Assets by incorporating asset-building into your work at the YMCA.

$37,353.25 - $46,691.56
