Job Description

Oversees the total operation of unique YMCA branch focused on youth/teen development. Responsibilities include membership sales and retention, programming, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development and collaboration with community partners.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, recreation or equivalent.

2. Four or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

3. Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.

4. Experience in Program Development and Instruction.

5. Ability to provide direct service to the membership/community.

6. Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders and to engage them in the philanthropic efforts of the YMCA.

7. Proven track record in direct appeal annual support campaigns.

8. Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

9. Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

10. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

11. Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.

12. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  1. Lead and supervises all staff in all areas of the Branch.
  2. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  3. Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets. Manages revenue/expenses, payroll, membership and program participation targets.
  4. Develop staffing for membership/front desk, MOD, child watch, group exercise and programs in alignment with budgeted payroll.
  5. Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees with the support of the Regional VP. Directs the volunteer activities (policy/program consistent with the YMCA of Central Ohio) of the branch.
  6. Leads/Coordinates the financial development activities of the branch; works to create and maintain a culture of philanthropy surrounding the Y with the support of the Region VP and the Association Advancement team.
  7. Responsible for membership and program participation targets.
  8. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area in collaboration of the Regional VP.
  9. Develop partnerships and collaborations to support the program plan of the YMCA and City of Whitehall. Secure volunteers to assist with the program development and execution.
  10. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.
  11. Supports the Youth Program Director in efforts to provide programs to the members/community, including but not limited to teaching classes as needed to securing volunteer/paid instructional support.
  12. Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  13. Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  14. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  15. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  16. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to
    the community.
  17. Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and coaches program director and supervise employees in the branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Certifications

CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within first 60 days.

YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months.

Salary

$50,000.00 - $52,000.00
