YMCA World Service Impact

The YMCA is a global movement which serves the diverse needs of more than 45 million people in 124 countries.  In many communities around the world, YMCAs are the driving force for positive change in difficult social, economic and political situations. Like YMCAs in the U.S., Ys around the world develop programs to effectively meet the needs of their local community.  Technical and financial support from YMCA World Service helps many YMCAs put their plans into action to the benefit of millions of people worldwide.

At least 85 cents of every dollar contributed to World Service goes directly to fund vital YMCA programming with the remainder supporting administration costs. Funded programs are approved by the International Committee of the YMCA of the USA’s Board of Directors. Grants are managed by members of the YMCA of USA International Group who have a proven track record in international development, in-depth knowledge of each region's history, an understanding of current needs and trusted relationships with local leaders.
